Knowing when to stop, when to simply ‘let it be’, is critical. Overwork an idea and you can easily cross the border into kitsch or caricature. I’m still learning to trust my instinct when to step away.. It’s often earlier than I might have anticipated. Go on too long and a piece can become lifeless.
